B.Sc. PHYSICS**

Physics is a generalist major that allows you great freedom of choice in student’s ultimate employment. It is a cornerstone for all scientific and logical understanding that can contribute to the nation’s scientific growth and development. A solid foundation in physics subject enables them to prepare for higher-level learning in science and technology. Students will become proficient in the core areas of physics that include mechanics, electronics, electromagnetism, nuclear and atomic physics, quantum physics and modern physics.

The skills acquired during a physics degree are problem solving, information handling, critical reasoning, logical thought and clear communication these skills are much in demand in many fields of employment.

Physics is the basis for most modern technology. Manufacturing is dominated by physics-based technology.  Majoring in physics provides excellent preparation for graduates in all engineering and information discipline, in life sciences including molecular biology, genetics and neurobiology, in earth, atmospheric and ocean science. Research in physics can be highly creative and stimulating with lots of opportunities in the fields of – Nanotechnology, Embedded system, Spintronics, Material sciences, climate change studies, etc. Lucrative career opportunities are available in the field of Education, Universities, Laboratories, agriculture, industry, medicine, communication, government defense services, and a lot more.

The Department was started in the year 1986 with inspirational and resourceful teaching faculty with 33 students on roll.  The first batch completed in the year 1989 with university ranks. We are proud to put forth that our students consistently acquire University First rank competing with other city colleges under the University of Madras. This is because of the best practice in our Department where we bring in good classroom climate and isotropic upliftment. We believe that the social environment of the classroom empowers learning. A class with great dynamics refreshes and stimulates the mind. The Isotropic upliftment is to improve the quality of the education among the students who differ in individual knowledge, culture, and neighborhood. A bit of laughter in the classroom can provoke motivation towards learning. However, control of the environment and the subject is still a priority.
