The discipline of Psychology is a rapidly developing field with a broad scope. The Master’s Program in Applied Psychology gives an extensive overview of how psychological principles and theories can be used to resolve real world challenges. The field of Applied Psychology assumes increasing importance with every passing year because of its proven ability to upsurge mental health outcomes; potential to enhance learning and education, promote workplace performance and well-being, inform technology design, address issues of abuse and neglect, behavioural disorders and positive changes in every field possible.

The Postgraduate curriculum is designed to cover several branches within the field of Psychology in order to give a holistic understanding and experience of the subject, which not only enriches and enhances their knowledge in the field but also paves way for skill development, self development and interpersonal competence. The Department provides numerous value additions to the course through the conduct of add-on courses, workshops, seminars, guest lectures, outreach programs, field visits and exhibitions. Internships are offered in collaboration with the In-house Counselling Centre.
A judicious blend of theory and practicum, the course not only prepares the students to be a Mental Health Practitioner but also equips them to choose their area of specialisation in the diverse arena of holistic wellness.

A general placement cell is available in the college premises. With a PG degree in Psychology, the career options are more widespread, namely Researchers, Research Assistants, Academicians, Trainers, Consultant Psychologists for Organizations, Corporate Counsellors, Case Managers, Counsellors in Government settings such as Prisons and Courts, Counsellors in Schools and Colleges, Aviation Psychologists, Psychoinformaticians, Digital Wellness Consultants, Health Psychologists, Sports Psychologists, E-sports Performance Coaches, Marine Psychologist, Consumer Behavior Analysts and many more.

A Candidate must have passed the 3 years UG degree course B.A/B.Sc in Psychology, recognized by the University of Madras.
